The race will start at starting at the border with Georgia near Lake Hartwell. Much of the surrounding land was inherited from the Cherokee Indians and early settlers. In 1917, Greenville was known as the “Textile Center of the World.” Even today, Greenville is one of the top 10 fastest growing cities in the U.S. The rivers that surround Spartanburg were harnessed to power cotton mills that drove the economic prosperity of this region during the mid-1800’s. Along the way, runners will visit local schools.

This is part of the Race Across USA marathon series. You will be running with the Core Team who are going coast to coast from California to Washington DC. Runners need to arrive the night before at 5pm to check-in.
